Writing process
Writing process
Writing will be more manageable if you approach it as a multi-step process. In other words, you don’t have to focus on the final product when you first start a writing project. Thinking about the final product too early will only produce distress, not writing. Avoid thinking “How am I going to write five pages?” or “What am I going to do about my spelling problems?” or “How am I going to organize my ideas?” You will be happier and more able to write if you think about writing as being composed of many short-term goals, rather than one long-term goal. This means, that you have to go over few series steps. Each one leads to the next. If you follow each of these steps and focus on short-term goals, you will be able to feel good about the writing. You will find that the essay almost writes itself.
There are many kinds of writing process. Some of them are free writing, dangerous method, direct writing process, quick revising and open-ended writing process. Each writing process has its main steps. There are six main steps for direct writing process. Here are the steps in order from first to the last. If your writing time is limited to short time, you have to split your time to two main periods. The first period is for the free writing and the second period is for revising. Second thing you should do is preparing the essay taking into consideration of the audience, the purpose, the topic, and the form of writing you will use. You can turn your back on the audience if that helps you writing your essay. Then write down every thing you know about the topic quickly and place all the ideas that come to your mind about the essay. Ignore the miss you made in your essay and try to not get lost between the ideas or digress them. When the first period is over, turn into the second step, even you are not done, and revise the essay. This process works when you have limited time and when you don’t face any problem getting the resources.
In The Quick revising writing process, you need to think about the topic and forget every thing else. Audience and purpose are your main goal and you need to keep your eyes on them. After that, try to figure out your main point in the paper. You paper should be organized very well; this means that you will need an outline for the essay. Then you go over the passages and add the missing pieces. Now, start writing your draft and make sure that you have a significant introduction that leads the audience to read the essay. Also, do not forget the conclusion, which is actually the summary and the goals of your essay. Going over the draft and reading it helps modifying the essay and clarifying it. Finally, check your grammar and spelling mistakes in the essay.
The third process is open-ended writing process, which is basically at the opposite extreme from the direct writing process. There are seven steps in this process. The first step is to write, nonstop, for fifteen to twenty minutes. Write every thing comes to your mind about the topic. Don’t worry about the order. Then look at your writing and focus on the main points and try to put them in sentences. Use these sentences in nonstop writing again. When you are done from writing, look up at the sentences, try to put them in order and organize them. Find out a way to write them in order and manage them as main points and sub points. You will need an outline to do that. Provide those points and sub points with the examples and supporting ideas. Those usually come from your life experiences and your knowledge about the topic. This kind process is useful when you have enough time to write a paper and you don’t have enough ideas about the topic.
In my writing process, I used the direct writing process I chose the topic, which was “my Falcon”. “My Falcon” is my poem. Then I thought about the type of paper I was expecting to produce. I was supposed to write a poem. I thought about the topic, does it have to be general view and specific analysis of the topic? “My Falcon” was a general view topic about the Falcon. My purpose was to describe the falcon and talk about it. I listed all the words and phrases as they came to me about the Falcon. I tried to write down as many ideas as I could. I wrote down the descriptions, the attitudes, and every thing related to the Falcon. I didn’t worry about spelling, punctuation, or grammar. I just kept writing. When I finished writing it, I started to organize my poem and revised it.
I faced couple problems in my poem. First problem was the fail in creating a connection between my emotion and the poem. The poem was description about the Falcon. It didn’t talk about any thing else. I wrote a collection of our thoughts, observations, feelings and images animals. The second problem was that I didn’t know how to start my poem. I didn’t know what to use for the first sentence. I didn’t know what kind of sentences should be placed there. The last problem was coming with the adjectives for the falcon. I spent long time getting the right adjectives for the falcon. I tried my best to match the adjectives with the falcon description. I put al the falcon description on a paper, and then I wrote down all the adjectives. Also I thought about all kinds of planes. I matched the descriptions and the adjectives and put them together. Finally I got my poem
I went over the writing process, and I am wondering. There is a question in my mind. Where is the thesis statement? It should be mentioned as part of the process. Also the introduction and the conclusion weren’t there. Even all of those are missing but I didn’t find hard time coming up with the poem. The way I used for writing poem worked well and I feel comfortable using it.
