Maycomb, Alabama- A 25 year old man named Tom Robison was accused of rape yesterday. He is a black man and could be dangerous. He was accused of rape by Mayella Ewell.
People from all over the county flooded the court room. Waiting to see what will happen to Tom Robinson. Atticus Finch is defending Ton Robinson.
The first to be questioned is Sheriff Heck Tate. He says that on November 21 Bob Ewell came to his door and said that his daughter had been raped by Tom Robinson. Atticus asks him what side was she hit on and he replied the right side.
The Atticus clearly remembered that Tom Robinson was right handed and a right hand man would and could not; hit her on the right side. Tom Robinson only has one hand because the other got cut off in his early childhood.
The second witness was Bob Ewell. He said that when he was coming home from cutting fire wood he looked in the window and saw Tom Robinson raping his daughter. Atticus Asked Bob to write his name on this a piece of paper and he did so revealing that he was left handed and could of hit his daughter on the right side.
The third witness was Mayella Ewell. Atticus asked if she knew Tom Robinson and she said yes. Mayella said that she had asked him to help her with a chore. Then she claimed that he attacked her. Then her father came home and scared him away.
The final person up to the sand was Tom Robinson. He was asked what happened on November 21. Tom said that Mayella asked him to help her fix the door. She he went inside to help fix the door but their was nothing wrong with the door. Then Mayella asked him to get something down form the chifarabo. Mayella grabbed his legs and started kissing.
Tom Robinson let a few people go by saying that he helped Mayella because he felt sorry for he and that was a set back because a white man should feel sorry for a black man the other way around.
