Wung Lung’s last request, before passing away to be burried next to his wife, was for his sons not to sell the land he owned after his death. Yet the sons did not follow their father’s request and sold the land shortly after he died.
Not only didn’t they follow their father’s last wish, but they also disrespected him and his efforts to keep the land all these years.
The sons were looking for a suitable buyer, and all they could think of was the profits they will get from selling the land, and how they would share it between them.
The suggestions were many, people were very interested to buy the land, but one specific offer got their attention: Lotus offered to buy the land and pay them a large sum of money.
At first Lotus’s suggestion seemed very suspicious, but on the other hand they were sure that it was the best offer they got so far, and they agreed.
Lotus has become the owner of the land. She was convinced she could give the land the respect and honor it deserves. She had moved into the house, to take charge over the lands. The sons moved out and were about to leave the city, while Lotus took a good care of the house and the lands, hired workers and slaves to help her to keep the land in its best condition.
As a result, the land has become very fertile and was the most successful economical enterprise in the city.
Meanwhile, Wung Lung sons financial condition worsened, the money they got from selling the land ran out, and they left with no money at all.
The only thing they had was a deep remorse about their decision to sell the land, but unfortunately there was no way back.
