“In everything that can be called art there is a quality of redemption” -Raymon Chandler

Art is art only in the eye of the beholder. Art is a skill that is acquired by experience study or observations. It is something that many people try to accomplish but not all are successful at. To redeem yourself is to buy back or win back something that you have lost. To redeem yourself in art is to express lost emotions or feelings through your work. For many artists art is there way of “venting”.
An example of this would be abstract expressionist art. At first glance most of the time these pieces look as though they did not put very much time and effort into their work. But as you research the artist you will learn more about their motivation for what they did. For example Jackson Pollock, to most it looks like he just threw paint on the canvas in no particular order. But if you look closer at pieces such as “Autumn Rhythm” you will notice that there is sort of a weird symmetry to it. Indian artist who would place their canvas on the floor and poor sand on it to create their desired images inspired him.
Another example of redemption through art is the artist Jim Dine. He did a piece called “Shovel” in 1962. This piece could represent a number of things; it could represent just a shovel. It could also be a “praise” to the shovel because of what an effect it had on the farming age. All of the farming that was done could not have been accomplished without the simple shovel.

“Architecture is inhabited sculpture” - Brancusi
A long time controversy is over what is architecture and what is sculpture. It has basically come down to the simple fact that some things can be both and some things are one or the other. If you look at things such as the pyramids it serves the purpose of something nice to look at but they also served as tombs and places for the dead’s treasures so that they could have them in the afterlife. Things such as the sphinx served the purpose of protecting the pyramids.
If you see Stonehenge you would not know what the purpose of it is. And although there has been many researchers that have studied Stonehenge they still do not know what its original purpose was. It could have been for a number of things such as a giant clock or something to tell what the season and time of year it was. But regardless it serves the purpose of architecture and sculpture because once again it is a very “neat” and interesting design but it also serves a purpose.
Frank Lloyd Wright was a very unique architect he did not believe in tearing down nature so he believes in working around nature. One of the best examples of this is the home that he designed in Pennsylvania, the Kaufman house. A river runs through the middle of the home. This house had to be very carefully constructed so that it could stay together well. This home is in sense architecture in the mathematical aspect of it as far as the construction goes. But as far as the idea and the river running through it is purely a sculptural idea. Simply because most architects would have built the house next to the river where as Wright built it around it.

“Poetry does not have to be beautiful to stick in the depths of our memory”-Colette
Poetry comes in many different shapes and sizes. What is beautiful poetry is all up to personal preference. Poetry can express many emotions to include sadness, joy, praise or thankfulness. In many types of poetry the words flow, there is a certain rhythm and the words will simply flow from your mouth. But this is not the only type of poetry that exists some poetry could be puzzling such as “l(a” by e.e. cummings. This poem at first glance seems as if it is just a bunch of letters randomly written down. But upon researching it you will learn that is says “loneliness”. This is the type of poem that when you finally understand the meaning you will see that it is a poem that can relate to everyone, not just a certain group of people. Because loneliness is a felling that we have all experienced.
Many poems are not beautiful in the sense that they rhyme perfectly or they just roll off of you tongue. But they will stick in your mind simply because of the meaning of the poem. It could be so powerful that you will never forget it but it may not be classified as “beautiful”.
“I try to apply colors like words that shape poems, like notes that shape music” Joan Miro
In today’s society people are always trying to match things up and say one hand doesn’t work without the other. In this particular quote, the author is doing just that, matching one item with another that goes with it or is similar.
When you apply colors with words, you want them to flow together. Not necessarily rhyme, but make sense so that they can effectively express a meaning. Thus, possible leading to and leaving a clear visual image.
Expressing words that shape poems gives structure. This lets the reader know your style and format. Also this gives the reader a good description of the visual image, while at the same time possible giving a nice rhythm and steady, easy flow. This doesn’t have to rhyme, just structure a shape.
Ending with like notes that shape music reflects the entire quote. The colors, which resemble a visual image, words which provide structure and the poem, the final touch is music to ones ears. Thus, making the shape summing it up and putting it together like words to poems and notes to music.
In conclusion, you could say that all the trying in society today could actually set one behind. Instead of worrying if things flow, match and shape one should concentrate on what is actually inside all of it. While trying is great, actually applying it is even better and if it matches- great, if not- it is still your personal shape and at least you can say you tried.
“If there is no money in poetry, neither is there poetry in money.” Robert Graves
Poetry is something that is very difficult to write. It should be considered an art form. It involves arranging words in a manner so that it gives meaning to those who read it. Many people consider any writing at all work of a poper, but without all of the great writers in the world history would go untold.
Poets that are considered some of the “greats” are highly underpaid, so for those who are just “average” they are hardly paid at all. If you have the gift to write poetry, you should not attempt to use it to make money because you will probably be unsuccessful. Now if you have the gift to write poetry and that is what you truly love your financial situation will be irrelevant. The more that you pour your heart and soul into anything that you love, the more you will accomplish in your life.
