Deciding whether or not to live with your parents while going to college is very difficult thing to do. You are afraid that it is going to be just like more days of high school with your parents treating you as small child. This can be avoided if you and your parents both follow three simple rules: treat each other as peers, respect each other’s privacy, and help each other out.
The first rule is usually the most difficult for both you and your parents. It basically consists of you and your parents viewing each other as adults, not as a child and two adults. If you still act like a child and pout when you don’t get your way, your parents are definitely not going to look upon you as a peer, but rather look down upon you as a person of lesser value.
Both of parties have reached a point in which they view each other as equals, it is very important that they respect each other’s privacy. This is very difficult for your parents to do because they still think they need to know everything you are involved...
