Pigman
Pigman
This was about the novel I read called The Pigman by, Paul Zindel. This book had a lot of characters, but I’m only going to tell you about the ones that had an influence on the story. There was John who was about 15 and always gets in trouble whether it is prank calling or being bad in school. Lorraine is also 15 and is the opposite of John she is very kind and friendly. The Pigman or Mr. Pignati is also friendly and about 58 years of age. There is also John and Lorraine’s parents both of their parents are nasty.
It all started when John and Lorraine and their friends decided after school that they would prank call people in the phone book. That’s when they called Mr. Pignati. They said that they had a fund and Mr. Pignati would add to the fund by giving ten dollars. They went to pick the money up and in no time they were friends with Mr. Pignati, just Lorraine and John. Mr. Pignati got to now John and Lorraine better by taking them to zoo and showing them his best friend Bobo a baboon. A couple of days later Mr. Pignati was playing a game with John and Lorraine and they decided to roller skate and Mr. Pignati had a heart attack. They took him to the hospital and while he was in the hospital John and Lorraine threw a party and tried on Mr. Pignati’s and his deceased wife, Conchetta’s, clothes on. After the Pigman is out of the hospital he took a couple of days off and then takes John and Lorraine to the zoo again. At the zoo Mr. Pignati finds out that Bobo dies and he dies as well from a heartattack. Mr. Pignati finds Conchetta in heaven and lives in peace.
One excerpt that will prove that the Pigman really cares about Bobo, the baboon is when the Pigman is in the hospital and he asks John and Lorraine “ ‘Do you think you could stop by and see Bobo for me?” An excerpt in the novel proves that Mr. Pignati feels shy about talking about Conchetta’s death when John and Lorraine ask him to tell them about Conchetta. The Pigman says “ ‘She’s dead,” “he said, wiping his tears with the large white handkerchief.” Those two excerpts prove that the Mr. Pignati is a very lovable and caring person.
The Pigman was very interesting and I found it easy to get really into the book. I hope that people would read this book and that they learn from it. This was really an outstanding novel written by, Paul Zindel.
Sincerely,
paul
