Colombia has been recognized as a drug country. Colombia export drug to the states, but some of us don’t stop and think who consume that drug (Colombian) no. I have so many friends from Colombia here and in the total of 11 none of them use drug. In the other hands I have some Americans friends and some of them use drug. Is Colombia the country we should blame as responsible of drug around the world? Colombia is just exporting this material but who is consuming this product and who is paying for it.
Traffickers started out with much more modest goals. In the mid-1970s, marijuana traffickers in Colombia began exporting small quantities of cocaine to the United States hidden in suitcases. At that point, cocaine could be processed for $1500/kilo in jungle labs and could be sold on the streets of America for as much as $50,000/kilo. An estimated 14.8 million Americans were current users of illicit drugs in 1999, meaning they used an illicit drug at least once during the 30 days prior to being interviewed. Even the president bush have tried drug in some point of his life. So
Some of us have the wrong idea about Colombia, it’s true they are the first country exporting drug to United States but is everyone the same here, there are some other things Colombian does for the world. Colombia is fighting this problem for years, but it is working. Is the production reduce not, as long as there are people to pay high quantities for these drug, Colombia will continue exporting drugs to others countries. United States is helping them with money, so they can combat against the drug but in the other hand Colombia has the problem of the guerrillas too. So it make it more difficult because usually the drug dealer pay the guerrilla so they can take care of the place they grow up marijuana and extortion the people to make them grow marijuana in the jungle. But the main point is that Colombia is fighting this problem, and sometimes is not fair to refer us a country like Colombia as a unique word or always associated Colombia with “drug”.
Colombia has many other good things like the coffee Colombia is one of the largest country which export more coffee around the world, I better say the second, but first in quality; the famous Juan Valdez coffee is exported all around the world and is famous for it’s smooth finish, pleasant acidity and rich medium to full body.For Colombia, coffee represents the main product of exportation and the symbol that identifies the image of the country; behind a cup of coffee is found a culture, good part of the history of the last century, a form of life, a tradition, and hope of a town, and something very important: the innumerable efforts of all the Colombians to produce the smoothest coffee of the world and of better quality. The coffee is the agricultural product that generates the major employment in the field, where the family has been the base of the job in the farms coffee pots and near 350.000 homes they are benefited of their cultivation. In Colombia the tinto or black coffee is the social beverage for all the ages, Since its apparition, the coffee has had to travel through a long road, being admired, despised, prohibited and finally accepted with the industrial revolution and the growth of the world population during the century XX the coffee becomes a universal beverage. The coffee has a cultural and economic value. After the petroleum is the commercial product that moves the greater figures of money in the world market. It is present in the customs of many towns that daily they consume it, while millions of men and women derive their daily life of the process of production, benefit, industrialization, and commercialization. Countries developed and that they have a high standard of living as is the case of the United States, Japan and Germany, are the greater consumers of this beverage. Greek and Turkish they boil three times the coffee with the sugar in the pan before serving it. To the Americans owes them himself the invention of the Coffee Break or break to take a coffee. This custom have been received in all the parts of the world. The excellent quality of the Colombian coffee outside, the National Confederacy of Cafeteros of Colombia carries out an intense advertising campaign. Summary of Main Points: Colombia is fighting against the drug problems with the help of the United States, and hopefully we won’t refer Colombia as the responsible of the drug, and hopefully we can talk good thing about Colombia, and recognize Colombia as a great exported of coffee, roses, singer.
Concludes with Impact: I did this speech because when I was in Peru , we were exporting the drug to Colombia, and I did a comparison between the drug and the coffee, so you can see what is Colombia real export is “coffee”
