Management
Management
To me there is a basic concept and three basic premises of time management. Anyone wanting to “manage” time must really wrap themselves around these ideas. Not that I have fully completed this, but as I come closer to doing it, things become clearer. Do not just say “Yah, some good points”. But live them fully. From these basics I have tried to systematized time management so that it is simple, not onerous to do. These basics will help you with whatever system you use. Mine is a number put together.
The basic concept is do not try to save time (you can’t), try to spend it wisely.
The basic premises are:
Everyone has 24 hours a day,
No one knows when time will stop,
Everyone lives now.
So, if you try to base your time management on any thing else, you end up in mis-management. Every time you think, “I don’t have enough time. Where do they get all that time? I’m afraid to do that.” go over the following explanations with the idea to spend your time fully and wisely.
Concept
- Have a mission written out, why are you here, what are you doing etc.
- Add your goals, with the main areas of physical, financial, spiritual, career, family, mental, social
- If you don’t have these, why to you want to “save” time?
Premise 1 — Everyone has 24 hours a day (that’s all folks, no more no less).
- Realize the difference between need and want.
- Prioritize what you want to do, then do the most important first.
- Classify activities as; urgent or not urgent, against important or not important.
- You will find that the ‘important not urgent’ activities make the greatest impact on your life.
- Set activities for today, this week, this month, this year (each one less detailed or a larger scope)
- Make sure the activities include something that takes you towards your goals. If not why are you doing it?
Premise 2 — No one knows when time will stop (for them, ie die)
- Tell, show the people you love, that you love them– now!
- Stay away from activities, people that you do not like, or do not take you towards your goals.
- What would you do if you were told that you have only 48 hours to live? Why not do it now?
Premise 3 — Everyone lives now (in the present, the past has gone, the future is yet to come)
- Forget the past (as to worrying about it), learn from it that is why you have a past
- Do the best that you can now, improve yourself, enjoy yourself
- Prepare for the future but don’t put everything there
- Don’t save for a special occasion. Today is special!
- Forgive yourself for an honest mistake, learn by it, improve on it to have a better future
- Love and enjoy now. Remember premises 2 & 1.
When you use these ideas to plan your time, do little things to spend time wisely then you will have a great time!!
