landscapeThe arrangement of a landscape brings imagination to life. This startles someone to think if this is where creation was started. The landscape is a single knoll that rises out of the plains of Oklahoma. It is located north and west of the Wichita Range.
To look at this landscape, early morning with the sun at your back would make you lose some sense of proportion. In the midst of the vast surroundings of the plain, loneliness is the main aspect of the land. All things on the plain are isolated.
As stated in the reading, the tortoise that’s crawling on the red earth seems not to go anywhere in the abundance of time. Also there is confusion of objects to the human eye; whether it’s one hill, one tree or one man.
For the Kiowas this landscape is a landmark. They call it the Rainy Mountain. They say that the harshest weather in the world is there such as blizzards, tornados, and very warm summers. They love the green belts along the rivers, and the steaming foliage in July or August.
In some people’s eyes certain landscapes might not be the place that they would want to live in because of the lack of necessities. On the other hand for others it could be one of the greatest treasures in the world. Overall, we have to realize that life started in such a place and progressed to what it is now.
